Education - Teachers

Curriculum

As schools reexamine their Social Studies curriculum, the Quilt & Textile Museum and Heritage Center of Lancaster County are available to assist with the challenge. Our goal is to identify points in the curriculum that are suited to a local history component and recommend ways to use local history resources, such as museums, historic sites and libraries, to meet these curricular needs.
Education Advisory Committee

We strive to create educational programs that are meaningful, age
appropriate, helpful to teachers, and relevant to curriculum. To help
us meet these goals, we have developed an advisory committee comprised
of teachers. The diverse group, which meets semi-annually, includes
educators with specialties that are relevant to the collections and
programs at Quilt & Textile Museum and the Heritage Center Museum.
These specialties include mathematics, science, language arts, family
and consumer science, art and social studies.

To join or learn more about this committee, please contact the Education Department or call (717) 299-6440.
Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards

The Commonwealth's education standards for each subject area are integrated into the Quilt and Textile Museum's programs. Relevant standards for each educational program are identified in materials that are provided to teachers. The majority of our programs achieve standards in subject areas beyond history, including reading, writing, speaking and listening, arts and humanities, family and consumer science, economics, geography and others.
