Support - Donations

A gift to the Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum can be made in a number of different ways including major gifts, planned giving, corporate or business gifts, gifts of personal property or securities, and other special opportunities.

The parent organization of the Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum, the Heritage Center of Lancaster County, is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization. Your gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Major Gifts

Interested in preserving the past for the future? A major gift in the amount of $50,000 or more will ensure that your legacy lives on forever in one of Lancaster County's most important institutions. Prior donors have established acquisition funds, endowed gallery space and helped to fund restoration. Contact the Museum's President for more information.

If you itemize, you can take an income tax deduction for the full value of a cash gift. Be aware, however, that certain rules in the IRS code limit the amount you can give to a percentage of your income. Such gifts can be of tremendous benefit to you when you are selling a home or other physical property or considering a change in your lifestyle.

Planned Giving

Interested in providing a charitable gift to the museum as well as realizing long term tax and financial benefits? Consider a charitable remainder trust or charitable gift annuity as a way of making a donation. Such a gift allows you to commit a set amount to an organization and then receive a stream of income in return for the remainder of your life. Gifts of this kind help the museum, and also:

  • Guarantee income for you, your spouse, or family members.

  • Qualify you for an immediate substantial income tax deduction.

  • Reduce estate taxes at your death.

  • Enhance your lifetime income.

  • Avoid or defer capital gains taxes.

  • Give you the security of having someone else, in this case, Fulton Financial Advisors, professionally manage a portion of your money.

    Charitable Remainder Trust

This comes into play when you make an irrevocable gift ofsome asset, or a combination of assets, such as cash and securities, to a trust administered by a bank or other appropriate fiduciary. You will receive regular payments from the trust for a period of years or for the lifetimes of you and your designated beneficiaries. At the end of the trust term, a final distribution of the assets will be made to the Heritage Center of Lancaster County.

    Charitable Gift Annuity

This is a contract between you and the museum. You give a minimum of $25,000 in cash or appreciated securities in exchange for our promise to pay you, or another beneficiary, a fixed amount of funds per year for your life, the life of a beneficiary or for a set number of years. You have a fixed amount of money that you receive from the annuity each year. The tax advantage is based upon your initial gift, as well as a portion of the annuity payments made to you each year.
